The Learning Center (TLC)

The Learning Center (TLC) will be an actual building or space inside our ecovillage set aside for multimedia, books, learning, classes, workshops, music, creativity, etc. for our community.

It will contain:
1) Videos, cd's and books for our village members and
2) IF we later on down the road allow children in our community, this is the place where we can recommend books that would be good for children to be taught from. Classroom material to show how patriarchy societies rule by war and greed and show how Matriarchy societies are better for humanity and the environment.
3) Books and classes for adults on various topics

We will keep books at The Learning Center that members may read at any time. Here's some suggested books for Adults:

• The Gate To Women's County" by Sherri S. Tepper
  (feminist sci-fi book suggested by john_rs)
• "Natural Superiority of Women" by Ashley Montagu
• Feminist Bibliography - list of books
• "Make Love not War" by William Bond
• "Gospel of the Goddess" by William Bond and Pamela Suffield
• "Women at the Center" by Peggy Reeves Sunday
• "Women Artists: An Illustrated History" by Nancy Heller
• "Ecofeminism: Women, culture, nature" by Karen Warren

We will also purchase books on sustainability, ecovillages, renewable energy, organic gardening, solar power, etc. These books will be lent out and also used in some of the classes at The Learning Center. Some books are listed on our Resources page.

Also some online do-it-yourself guides could be accessed on solar-powered laptops at The Learning Center and several guides are available here such as:

• - how to build a solar oven
• - how to build a compost bin
• - how to make your own paper
• - how to make diesel from vegetable oil

Some more online do-it-yourself guides from other sources:

• - how to build a floating hydroponic garden
• - vegetable production in florida (contains some guides to individual vegetables)
• - growing fruits and nuts in florida (contains some info on individual fruits)
• - organic soap process
• - homemade beauty

Teen section. Suggested material to teach teens: (Teens/kids will not be allowed in Femquility when it first starts out. But maybe later on we will but we haven't decided yet.)

• - Cool Careers for Girls as Environmentalists
• - Girls Think of Everything: Stories of Ingenious Inventions by Women

Note: This is not a final list. Just what others have suggested. After we get a good list going, all books that will be looked at by Ms. Lisa and/or our Wise Woman Council for final approval before going into the collection for The Learning Center.
